Update: I'm still on GoDaddy, still angry, but must admit that @GoDaddy have been really helpful on Twitter so have won back some brownie points. They told me about the "free upgrade" to their Grid Hosting, which means I no longer get fucked over when the tenant I used to live on got busy for reasons beyond my control. Things have improved a lot since then.

A million years ago I was on the Wired/Lycos "Webmonkeys" listserv. There was a guy on there from some little company called Macromedia who would talk about how to do certain things in Authorware and Shockwave...and then talk about how to do the same thing in his main competitor's tool, Adobe Flash. The fact that he was willing to discuss his competitors and demonstrate that he knew they knew how to do what he was talking about gave him massive credibility on the list.

So yeah, I agree, if you have competent people on both sides who respect each other, it can make stuff a lot less painful. And vice versa.

Interesting in a 'no surprises there then' kind of way. Agree on the size thang - ability to execute 'what' exactly? On a complex vision that no-one will eventually pay for or be in a position to implement because it requires forklifts?

It smacks a little to me of laziness on Gartner's part - or maybe a bit of a cobbling together because the impact of the larger firms' acquisition programmes hasn't yet truly been manifested. As ever it's Autonomy's position that really surprises me. Really? Top right? The proof of the quadrant pudding, I guess, will be in the relative sales figures over the coming year.

It looks sweet. Been looking for an excuse to justify the cost and this post might have been the drop that tipped it.

... and you now have a shiny orange dot in Iceland. Not many blogs that can proudly claim such an anomaly.
